COLUMBIA, SC (August 31, 2011) – An Orangeburg woman’s hand stopped itching when she scratched a lottery ticket.
The five dollar $100,000 Touchdown scratch-off she bought from the Quick Store 1 in Orangeburg turned out to be a $100,000 winner, proving there may be something to the myth an itchy palm foretells money is coming.
“My hand kept itching, and I knew it was telling me to get a lottery ticket,” the winner told lottery officials. “I never thought $100,000 was possible.”
She’s keeping the news to herself and putting the winnings aside to pay for her child’s education.
“I still don’t know what to say,” she said brushing back tears. “I’m so happy.”
As of this release, three top prizes of $100,000 remain in the $100,000 Touchdown game.
The odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 480,000.
Quick Store 1 received a commission of $1,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
