North Augusta Man Wins $200,000 Playing Palmetto Cash 5

COLUMBIA, SC (October 11, 2010) – A North Augusta man was certain he had written the winning Palmetto Cash 5 numbers down wrong. He matched the first number, the second number, well, all five numbers. Could he have won $200,000?

He didn't think so, and his wife didn't either. But when he pays off his mortgage and his car, reality is sure to sink in.

The winner, who requested his name not be publicized, correctly matched all five numbers (6, 13, 27, 29, and 35) drawn in the Friday, October 8, 2010, Palmetto Cash 5 drawing. He paid the extra dollar to purchase Power-Up (Power-Up: 2) which multiplied his $100,000 winnings to $200,000.

Gas Plus #5 at 403 Georgia Ave. in North Augusta sold the winning ticket. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. The retailer received $2,000.

Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
