COLUMBIA, SC (September 30, 2011) – Having left the car lot looking at new trucks, a North Myrtle Beach man bought a lottery ticket and won enough to buy the truck and then some.
His $200,000 payday was complements of the $10 Blue Sapphire Bucks ticket.
He scratched the ticket inside the Kangaroo Express #3484 in Myrtle Beach.
“I took my glasses off and wiped my eyes,” the winner told lottery officials.
He ran out to the car to show his wife the ticket. She was equally stunned.
“Flabbergasted,” he said.
As of this release, six top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $10 Blue Sapphire Bucks game.
The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 411,428.57.
He purchased the ticket from Kangaroo Express #3484 in Myrtle Beach. The retailer received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 932,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
