COLUMBIA, SC (September 9, 2011) – A $200,000 Palmetto Cash 5 prize has been claimed by a Greenville man.
He was watching Tuesday evening’s drawing on television when he saw his numbers (1, 8, 21, 30, and 33) pulled.
“I said ‘Thank you,’” he said.
He told lottery officials he plays every day and always spends the extra $1 to Power-Up. The decision multiplied his $100,000 winnings by “2” to $200,000.
“I’m pretty lucky,” he grinned.
The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 501,942.
Bi-Lo #273 in Greenville received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
