Bennettsville Woman’s Five Numbers Win $100,000

COLUMBIA, SC (May 17, 2011) – A Bennettsville woman picked her own Palmetto Cash 5 numbers to win $100,000.

Her numbers, 9, 16, 17, 31, and 33, matched the numbers drawn on Friday, May 6.

“I had a good feeling about the numbers,” the winner told lottery officials.

While she declined to share the significance of her $1 selection, she told lottery officials the five numbers have blessed her family.

Had the winner, who did not want to release her name, paid the extra $1 for Power-Up, her $100,000 winnings would have been doubled to $200,000.

There have been 13 winners of the $100,000 top prize in Palmetto Cash 5 since January 1, 2011. Eight of these winners “Powered-Up” to multiply their winnings by the Power-Up multiplier.

Auto Fountain By-Pass #3 in Bennettsville sold the winning ticket and received $1,000, a 1 percent retailer commission, when the Palmetto Cash 5 ticket was claimed.

Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
