Rock Hill Man Plays “Hot Hot Hot” Wins $200,000

COLUMBIA, SC (October 11, 2010) – A Rock Hill man's first purchase after winning $200,000 just might be a new car complete with GPS. He spent an hour lost in downtown Columbia, with five different people pointing him in five different directions.

When he arrived at the Lottery's claims center the winner, who declined to release his name, wanted his money, a bathroom and directions to the nearest bank.

He admits it was a long trip, but well worth it. Thanks to his winning Hot Hot Hot instant ticket he's going to be doing a lot more traveling. "My first stop will be my hometown in West Virginia," the winner said. "I also plan to help my grandchildren with their education."

Herlong BP in Rock Hill sold the winning ticket and celebrated with high fives all around congratulating the winner. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. The retailer received $2,000.

Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of funding for education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
