COLUMBIA, SC (July 30, 2026) – On the way to work, a Midlands woman stopped to buy some lottery tickets and got paid $30,000.
She won the payday on a $2 scratch-off she picked out at the JK Mart on Two Notch Rd. in Columbia.
She says she scratched off enough of the ticket to use the instore ticket checker. When the message read to “Claim at Lottery,” she asked the clerk to scratch off the rest of her card.
“I couldn’t believe it when the cashier told me I won $30,000,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “I must be lucky. I won $1,000 on Mother’s Day weekend.”
And the staff at the JK Mart hope to keep her win streak going.
“They gave me a peacock feather to hold for more good luck,” she said.
The 20X game she won playing is no longer available. The odds of winning $30,000 were 1 in 810,000.
JK Mart in Columbia received a commission of $300 for selling the claimed ticket.
