Lotto Numbers Researched by Upstate Man Win $2 Million

COLUMBIA, SC (May 7, 2026) An Upstate man’s interest in the winningest Powerball® numbers led him to a $2 million win.

He says his selection of 3, 19, 35, 51 and 67 in the April 29 Powerball® drawing was based on years of studying past draw results and theories on the luckiest numbers to pick.

“I had a good feeling about my numbers,” he told lottery officials. And his hunch paid off when his ticket from the QuikTrip #1144 on W. Butler Rd. in Mauldin matched the first five numbers drawn.

“I was one number away from having the Powerball® number and winning the jackpot,” he said.

He won last Wednesday but says he checked the ticket after filling up his car on Sunday. He scanned it in the store and was surprised when the message said to “Claim at Lottery.” He scanned it again to be sure he won big.

“I was calm,” he said.  His family was more emotional when he invited them to go with him to cash in the $2 million ticket.

The new millionaire is looking forward to traveling more.

The odds of winning $2 million are 1 in 11,688,054.

For selling the claimed ticket, QuikTrip #1144 in Mauldin received a commission of $20,000.
