COLUMBIA, SC (April 16, 2026) – A Midlands woman screamed when she realized she won $200,000 on a lottery scratch-off.
“It was very exciting,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
She had already won $1,000 on the Lottery’s new Star Power ticket when she bought another one for $5 at the Quick Corner on W. Liberty St. in Sumter. It was that ticket that won her the game’s first $200,000 top prize.
“I feel more comfortable,” she said after cashing in the big win.
And while she was hesitate to call it a winning streak, she says she probably hasn’t bought her last Star Power scratch-off.
The odds of winning $200,000 in the Star Power game are 1 in 760,000. Two more top prizes remain in the game.
For selling the claimed ticket, Quick Corner in Sumter received a commission of $2,000.
Players can enter Star Power tickets for a chance to win trip to an iHeartRadio music event of their choice. Learn more at sceducationlottery.com.
