COLUMBIA, SC (July 31, 2026) – An Upstate Grandma surprised her family by winning $500,000 on a lottery ticket.
“They were happy for me,” the grandmother, who does not wish to be identified, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials in Columbia. “They said I deserved it.”
And she’s not spending all of the prize on herself. She’s donating some of her winnings to help others.
She won the half-a-million dollars on a $10 ticket purchased at the Buncombe Mini Stop on Old Buncombe Rd. in Greenville. The store received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
The odds of winning $500,000 in the My Money Maker game are 1 in 1,152,000. The game is no longer available for purchase.
