COLUMBIA, SC (June 23, 2023) – A Sumter man kept it simple. He quick picked some Powerball® numbers and almost won the jackpot. His ticket matched five out of the six numbers drawn to win $100,000.
“It’s fun,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Youngs #3606 store at 3120 US Hwy. 15 S. in Sumter for the drawing on May 6 (31, 39, 47, 51, 53 and PB: 6).
“I try to play every drawing,” he told lottery officials. “And I’m going to keep playing.”
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129.
For selling the claimed ticket, Youngs #3606 in Sumter received a commission of $1,000.
