COLUMBIA, SC (June 21, 2022) – A television show gave a Lowcountry man a winning idea.
He decided to try an experiment after watching an episode of Lottery Changed My Life. For three months he was going to spend $25 a week playing the Lottery and see what happens.
“The first week I won $500,” he said.
On the seventh week he won $100,000 on a Powerball® ticket.
“I didn’t even know how to play Powerball®,” he laughed describing checking his ticket purchased from the Kwik Fill on Yeamans Hall Rd. in Hanahan.
He thought he matched two numbers. His wife looked at the ticket and noticed he had the Powerball® number. After a second look, he realized five numbers matched, one short of winning the jackpot in the drawing on Saturday, May 28 (2, 39, 50, 61, 66 and PB: 15).
Because he spent the extra $1 for PowerPlay® his $50,000 prize doubled to $100,000 when a “2” multiplier was drawn.
Since cashing in the win, he’s bought a car and still spending $25 a week on lottery tickets.
“I’m going to finish out the three months,” he said.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number are 1 in 913,129.
For selling the claimed ticket, Kwik Fill in Hanahan received a commission of $1,000.
Wednesday’s Powerball® jackpot is $312 million. Tickets are $2 and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 293 million.
Good luck, SC! Please, play responsibly.
