COLUMBIA, SC (March 24, 2022) – With the change left over from filling up her car, an Anderson woman bought a lottery ticket and won $200,000.
She scratched the ticket in her car in the parking lot of the Power Trac #13 on Pearman Dairy Rd. in Anderson. The last number on the Scenic South Carolina ticket won her the first six-figure prize in the game.
“My heart was fluttering,” she told lottery officials after cashing in the winning ticket. “I’m still kind of overwhelmed.”
The winner, who did not wish to be identified, says she had a feeling she was going to win the Lottery one day, but when it happened, she was taken by complete surprise.
“I thought ‘What? Not me,’” she said describing the moment.
Her winning ticket was a special one honoring the Lottery’s 20th Anniversary. The Scenic South Carolina ticket was first sold by the Lottery on its opening day on January 7, 2002. Today, these games pay tribute to some of our state’s most iconic and recognizable spots. The Anderson winner’s ticket featured the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, but others highlight Columbia’s Gervais Street Bridge, Greenville’s Riverwalk, Charleston’s Rainbow Row and Aiken’s South Boundary Avenue of Oaks.
Three more top prizes remain in the Scenic South Carolina game at odds of 1 in 750,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Power Trac #13 in Anderson received a commission of $2,000.
