COLUMBIA, SC (January 18, 2022) – A Midlands couple says they felt butterflies when they won $300,000 playing the Lottery.
The girlfriend told lottery officials that she picked out the winning ticket and scratched it in the car with her boyfriend parked outside the Smart Stop on Platt Springs Rd. in West Columbia. When she saw the six-figure payday, she asked her boyfriend to take the ticket inside the store and have it checked to be sure.
“The store clerk fist bumped him,” she said. “It was amazing. We felt butterflies.”
The couple says they had fun thinking up ways to spend the money and have settled on buying a truck, home improvements and saving for the future.
That’s not the only exciting news for these two. They are planning to get married.
“We’re going to live happily ever after,” the boyfriend said.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 900,000 to leave two top prizes of $300,000 remaining in the $10 Instant Jackpot game.
Smart Stop in West Columbia received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
