COLUMBIA, SC (September 12, 2022) – An Upstate man turned a $10 lottery win into $200,000.

While filling up his car at the VHS Inc. convenience store on 905 Montague Ave. in Greenwood he played the Lottery and won $10. He spent his winnings on two more lottery tickets, and one of them, a $5 Palmetto Cash 5 scratch-off, won him $200,000.

“I almost fainted,” he said.

When the Lottery caught up with the winner after cashing in his ticket, he had already requested and received the paperwork to pay off his house.

“I’m going to own my own home,” he said. “It’s a great feeling.”

The winner overcame odds of 1 in 720,000 to leave two top prizes remaining in the Palmetto Cash 5 game.

VHS Inc. in Greenwood received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
