COLUMBIA, SC (September 20, 2022) – Accompanying a friend to the store to buy a Powerball® ticket, an Upstate resident picked out a ticket of her own and scratched off a $300,000 win.
“You would think I’d be jumping up and down screaming, but I couldn’t,” the winner confessed to South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “I was in complete shock.”
The tickets were bought at the Garden Spot at 1913 Cedar Lane Rd. in Greenville.
The winner, who does not wish to be identified, is planning to share the prize with friends and family.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 900,000 to win $300,000 in the Carolina Gold 100X game. With no more top prizes remaining on the ticket, the game has ended.
Garden Spot in Greenville received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
