COLUMBIA, SC (October 14, 2022) – Christmas came early for an Upstate man, when he won the first $300,000 top prize in the Lottery’s annual holiday scratch-off game that went on sale this month.
“It was fun,” he said of his win on the Cash Flurry ticket. “I’ll have a great Christmas for sure.”
The winner, who does not wish to be identified, says he stops by the 7 Eleven at 1645 Easley Hwy. in Pelzer regularly and couldn’t believe his good luck when he randomly picked out the winning ticket.
“It’s almost like it isn’t real,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “I’m going to be smart with it.”
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 900,000 to win $300,000 in the Cash Flurry game. Five more top prizes remain on the ticket.
7 Eleven 36835A in Pelzer received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
