COLUMBIA, SC (October 14, 2021) – In a stack of his old lottery tickets, a Columbia man found a winner worth $100,000.
He likes to wait until he has several tickets in hand before checking them. A Powerball® ticket he’d been saving for over a month was the big winner.
It was a quick pick he purchased from the Gaz-Bah #7 on Clemson Rd. in Columbia that matched four of the first five white ball numbers and the red Powerball® drawn on Saturday, August 28 (12 - 22 - 26 - 46 - 59 and PB: 26). Paying an extra dollar for PowerPlay®, doubled his $50,000 winnings to $100,000 when a “2” multiplier was selected.
A little disappointed he didn’t match just one more number to win that night’s Powerball® jackpot, he says he’ll keep playing.
As for his $100,000 prize, “My wife has plans for that,” he said.
The odds of winning $50,000 playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 2X multiplier being selected are 1 in 1.75, when the jackpot is over $150 million.
For selling the claimed ticket, Gaz-Bah #7 in Columbia received a commission of $1,000.
