$250,000 Lottery Winner to Fund Grandchildren’s Education

COLUMBIA, SC (March 10, 2021) – A North Charleston lottery winner is using his prize money to pay for his grandchildren’s education.

“Their parents are very excited,” admitted the grandfather, when he told his children his plans for the $250,000 he won playing the South Carolina Education Lottery.

He opened a college fund with the winnings off a $10 Queen of Hearts ticket he purchased at the Lil Cricket #3868 on Dorchester Rd. in North Charleston.

The winner, who does not wish to be identified, thinks it’s fitting to spend his winnings this way.

“It’s being used for good purposes, the same way the lottery proceeds are used to benefit students here in South Carolina,” he said.

The winner overcame odds of 1 in 936,000 to win $250,000 in the Queen of Hearts game. No more top prizes remain in the game.

Lil Cricket #3868 in North Charleston received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.
