COLUMBIA, SC (November 4, 2021) – Last week, two lottery players in the Midlands cashed in winning tickets worth half-a-million dollars each.

Both won playing the 200X scratch-off, a special oversized ticket that sells for $10 with a top prize of $500,000. One winner purchased their ticket at the Lowes Foods on Chapin Rd. in Chapin, and the other winner bought theirs at the Sumter Stop on S. Guignard Dr. in Sumter.

The $500,000 winners shared similar stories. Both told lottery officials they plan to keep their wins a secret, and both are still deciding how to wisely spend their windfall.

“I’ve been in denial,” the Chapin winner confessed. “I didn’t expect to win that much.”

Her hands were shaking when she handed over her ticket to the Lottery for payment. She purchased the ticket while grocery shopping and scratched it in her driveway at home. Stunned, she sat in her car a while before she was able to unload her groceries.

The Sumter winner says his mind was racing too after his big win.

“I want to think about it and do the right thing,” he said after collecting his check. “I had a great life before, and this money isn’t going to change that.”

The winners overcame odds of 1 in 800,000 to leave two more top prizes of $500,000 remaining in the ($10) 200X game.

Lowes Foods #277 in Chapin and Sumter Stop in Sumter each received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed tickets.
