COLUMBIA, SC (February 6, 2025) – A lottery ticket bought on a Walmart run has won an Upstate woman a $140,000 jackpot.
“I’m debt free,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
The winning Palmetto Cash 5 ticket was bought at the Murphy USA Kiosk in front of the Walmart on Tippan Dr. in Taylors. The winner had been grocery shopping before quick picking some numbers at the gas station.
Later that night she checked her ticket and saw all five of those numbers matched. She woke her husband up to tell him they won the Lottery, and it was sweet dreams after that.
“It is wonderful,” she said of the win.
For selling the claimed ticket, Murphy USA #059 in Taylors received a commission of $1,400.
The odds of winning a Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 850,668.
