COLUMBIA, SC (June 19, 2025) – On his way home from work, a Lowcountry man bought a lottery ticket and got paid $500,000.
He says he picked out the lucky ticket at the 76 Station on 4881 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. He scratched the ticket while standing at the gas pumps, and what he saw had him running back into the store for a second opinion.
“I had to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me,” he said.
The clerk inside the store scanned his $10 ticket and confirmed it was worth more than the store could pay out. He would have to take the ticket to Columbia to cash in the half-a-million-dollar prize.
“I had a feeling a blessing was coming,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
Odds of winning $500,000 in the $500,000 Jackpot game are 1 in 1,152,000. One top prize remains in the game.
Shree Jay Ambe LLC (76 Station) in North Charleston received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
