COLUMBIA, SC (May 30, 2025) – A South Carolina couple didn’t fully believe they won the Lottery until a check was in their hands.
Their Powerball® ticket was worth $100,000.
The wife told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that she checked the Powerball® ticket first. When she saw all but one number match, she asked her husband, “Is this right?”
He studied the quick pick ticket he bought at the On The Go #1 on Alligator Rd. in Effingham and thought it was likely a big winner.
“We were still anxious,” the wife said.
They couldn’t help but wonder if what they were seeing was too good to be true. It wasn’t until they turned the ticket over to staff at the Lottery’s Claims Center in Columbia, who verified the win that they were convinced.
“I can’t believe how people must feel when they hit the big one,” the wife said.
On The Go #1 LLC in Effingham was rewarded with a $1,000 commission for selling the ticket.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129.
