COLUMBIA, SC (October 18, 2024) – An Upstate Powerball® player came within one number of winning a jackpot and retiring. Instead he’s still working after cashing in a ticket worth $100,000.
He matched five of six Powerball® numbers on a quick pick from the Circle K on E. Main St. in Spartanburg for the drawing on August 14 (8, 9, 23, 29, 62 and PB 13). The odds of that happening are nearly 1 in a million.
“It’s remarkable,” the winner, who does not wish to be identified, said. “I’m going to save it.”
For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K Stores Inc #2723292 in Spartanburg received a commission of $1,000.
