Rock Hill Man Leaves Grocery Store $100,000 Richer

COLUMBIA, SC (February 11, 2016) – A Rock Hill man brought home some dough from the grocery store, and we’re not talking baked bread.

He won $100,000 off a lottery ticket at the Food Lion on Ebenezer Rd. this week.

To make sure he wasn’t seeing things, “I put my glasses on,” he said.

Then he called a friend from work for a second opinion.

“I’ve never played,” admitted the coworker. “But the ticket seemed too good to be true.”

So the fellows headed back to the Food Lion, where staff at the customer service counter confirmed the win.

“I feel good about it,” said the winner, after turning over the Queen of Hearts scratch-off to lottery officials in Columbia.

As for his plans for the prize money, the winner, who his coworker described as humble and good hearted, can’t think of anything he needs.

Two top prizes of $100,000 remain in the $5 Queen of Hearts game, at odds of 1 in 480,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Food Lion #2537 in Rock Hill received a commission of $1,000.
