COLUMBIA, SC (May 2, 2013) – A Myrtle Beach man’s week improved when he bought a $10 scratch-off at the Kangaroo Express #3063 on Hwy. 544 in Myrtle Beach and won $200,000.
“I was stressed out about a lot of things, when I had a notion to buy the ticket,” he said.
He sat motionless in his car clutching the scratched Lucky Diamonds ticket for what felt like 15 minutes wondering how he beat the 1 in 600,000 odds to win.
“I just went for it,” he explained. “I wasn’t expecting it, and when it happened I was blown away.”
His wife jumped up and down when he told her.
“I feel like I got a pay raise,” he said.
Perfect timing too, the couple is planning to build a new home.
The Myrtle Beach man claimed the first of five $200,000 top prizes in the $10 Lucky Diamonds game.
For selling the claimed ticket, Kangaroo Express #3063 in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $2,000.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $3 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
