COLUMBIA, SC (January 19, 2024) – It wasn’t the cute pups on the Lottery’s Happy Pawlidays! ticket that a Chester lottery player liked, it was the price. She paid only $2 for the scratch-off that ending up winning her $30,000.
“I picked the ticket because it was $2,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials, and she bought it at the Center Express at 300 Center St. in Chester.
And her reaction when she scratched it, “it kind of scared me,” she said. But she’s relaxed now that she’s cashed in the ticket.
With the last top prize of $30,000 claimed, the Happy Pawlidays! game has ended. The six, South Carolina pups featured on the $2 scratch-off were selected in a dog photo contest hosted by the Lottery last spring. Happy Pawlidays! tickets went on sale in October, and the Chester player overcame odds of 1 in 480,000 to win a top prize.
Center Express in Chester received a commission of $300 for selling the claimed ticket.
