COLUMBIA, SC (August 29, 2025) – An Upstate man was speechless when he found out he won $1 million in a lottery drawing.
“I got really quiet,” he told lottery officials, describing the phone conversation informing him of his big win.
The Fountain Inn player admits once the surprise of the news wore off, he felt a huge sense of relief.
“It’s changed everything for me,” he said.
Since collecting the winnings, he has paid off his house, paid off a family member’s house and hopes to help others.
“It’s beautiful,” the winner told lottery officials. “I hope I can win again.”
The Upstate man became a millionaire in a July 31 drawing when his lottery ticket was selected from the more than five million entries received in the Magnificent Millions Second-Chance Promotion. The promotion allowed players to enter their winning and non-winning Magnificent Millions scratch-offs for a chance to win $1 million.
