COLUMBIA, SC (May 11, 2022) – An Upstate man is driving a new car after playing the lottery at the Briar Patch on the Asheville Hwy. in Campobello and winning $100,000.
“It was just luck,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
He says he stopped at the store to buy a drink and spent $3 on a Lady Jumbo Bucks Crossword ticket. He scratched the ticket and initially counted five words that matched for a $10 win, but a recount later revealed 11 words matched for the $100,000 prize.
“It feels good,” he said of the win.
The win leaves five top prizes of $100,000 remaining in the Lady Jumbo Bucks Crossword game at odds of 1 in 600,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Briar Patch in Campobello received a commission of $1,000.
