COLUMBIA, SC (May 12, 2021) – A Midlands school employee, who won $2 million playing Powerball®, won’t be returning to work.

“I’m looking forward to spending more time with my husband,” the winner said. “I’m going to miss the students.”

She had just gotten to work when she checked her Powerball® ticket and counted five numbers that matched, one more would have won her the jackpot in the Wednesday, April 21 drawing (21, 25, 32, 63, 67 and PB; 6).

“Oh, wow,” she said.

She called her husband with the good news, and he instructed her to sign the ticket and take a photo of the front and back.

“I almost forgot about PowerPlay®,” she said, which she paid an extra $1 for on her ticket. “I was thinking I won $1 million. I won $2 million!”

The Midlands Powerball® winner overcame odds of 1 in 11,688,054 to win $2 million.

Rucker Feed & Seed LLC in Pelion received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
